When the world whispers
the rumors of wars
you blatantly ignore
the signs of trouble

When the world cries
of blood shed
you pour out bleach
and blot out the stains

When the world screams
of injustice and cruelty
you quickly run inside
and lock all the doors

Gathering your loved ones
you turn off the lights
climb into bed
and hold them tight

I hope you reverence them
in the security of your arms
cherish their warmth,
and appreciate their presence

Because for some
there is no lover, nor spouse
no parent or child
to hold and admire

They are being buried
six feet under.

There was such a strong sense of wisdom in this piece. It felt calm as it took it's time. I really enjoyed your use of the English language with words like 'blatantly', 'cruelty', 'cherish'. Juicy, interesting words. A strong, bold poem

Thank you so much! The events that took place yesterday were horrifying and all I could do was write.
