'The weeping lady' (inspired by Pablo Picasso)

by Michael   Aug 15, 2017

I stood before her; looking; staring
into her image; hoping she would
draw me; into her emotion

She wept; saddened tears;
which rolled from darkened
apertures; chards of bleakness; falling
from shattered glass.

I felt my intrigue; tugged
with my curiousity; pulled into her pain,
and her anguish; which consumed me.

She; a portrait of suffering; which
hangs beneath a shallow light; which
shimmered; shading a sadness across her glaze

The effects; created from
the oiled hands of an artistic genius; her lover, as he portrayed his passion; upon canvas, captivating her beauty; which fabricated in his mind!

I could sense a feeling of pressure; almost
as if gravity weighed; heavy demands
upon shoulders; penetrating a passion; for
abstract perfection!

..tirelessly; tetchy..

..hours....

... upon hours..

of endless submission; displayed in her
features, where lines, defined a sharpness;
which reflected an edginess, to their affair.
I imagined; her arms; outstretched;
reaching out; begging for this
to end..

..hearing, a timid voice saying...

‘Please help me’

Her face; glared with a frozen;
expression of intense; torment
her teeth; gritted; biting down
upon a frigid white hanker-chief;
her jaw clenched; a sign of despair
in times of frustration...

...maybe..

her mortification; was a sign,
of the carnage of war; when
innocent women and children;
were savaged in a battle;rife;
with greed and power!

Her white hanker-chief; a sponge;
which soaked up; tears of her pain
and injustice; the hopeless;
turmoil.

Or a..
..fear, which led elsewhere..

..an expression of her dreading;
to sit over; and over again;
posing for her creator; strained
by his powerful intentions; his
earnest vision; reflected her eyes!

..with lips; licking
his fervid palette!

and the white hanker-chief; which
protruded from her mouth;
was to aid:
her nerves,..
Or
keep her steady..

..helping her motionless feelings;
required to capture the magnificence
of her true; real; emotions, right at
that moment..?

..which then..

Evoked; an onslaught; of his
craved passion; a two dimensional
desire; torturing her fear; to satisfy
his arousal,
a symbol; surrendering herself
to an era of madness!?

I felt her evolve into his mistress;
and as she attempted to resist; his
eccentric; behaviour, she could not;
and her vulnerability
gave in; surrendering to
his needs, and he...

made...

...love to her..

...through colour
