The Unravelling

by Kitty Cat Lady   Aug 21, 2017

I'm hanging by a thread here
It's worn and it is frayed
It's held my weight for far too long
It's demise can't be delayed

I watch the thread unravel
Upon itself it twists
Each broken twine a mockery
Of this life where I exist

But what will happen when I fall
Will the landing be quite harsh
Will I fracture, splinter, break
Will I shatter just like glass

I can hear the thread now groaning
It just can't take much more
I brace myself for impact
But I'm shaking to my core

I hope the breaks are total
So there's nothing left of me
Maybe then and only then
I will finally be free

Each one of us is hanging by a thread and we are doing the things as the creator tells us to do.
I totally agree with you that for some of us the burden of our decisions, our lifestyle put too much weight upon the thread.
we go into stress, anxiety, depression and start thinking of breaking the thread and become free.

I loved second stanza the most because it happens with many people. I mean the more they try to solve the daily issues of their lives, the more complicated their lives become.

I can feel the emotions..the flow, rhymes all went good.

    Nice work.
