Slip Away

by Mark   Aug 22, 2017

Slip away, 'tis okay
After all the years you've seen,
Children reared, then again
A matriach to your kin.

Slip away, 'tis okay
Though bright it is outside
Sunlight beams on nature's streams
Mirroring your golden life.

Slip away, 'tis okay
Cords do not become you
A heartbeat beep cannot tune
The way your music used to.

Slip away, 'tis okay
My tear is not of mourning
Though it drips upon your skin
Frail, wrinkled and withering.

Slip away, 'tis okay
A new life soon will be adorning
A special place reserved
For the selfless and loving only.

Slip away, 'tis okay
My time will come soon
Then may I feel the warmth of love
as I feel for you.

I'm glad to see this nominated - it deserves the front page. A really well written piece.

    All the best,

Hey...this is beautiful Mark... argghh so beautiful it hurts. The title set the bittersweet tone of the piece...and it flowed so well...deep into my heart. I wish I can be emotionally prepared as this piece is...say slip away bravely while holding her hand...

Thank you a ton my friend...this is lovely and heart-warming.

Straight into my faves and nominated. :-) :-) :-)
