Losing my mind Tonight

by Maple Tree   Aug 31, 2017

Digging my nails so deep in desperation
that this gutted twang inside my heart is
sounding like an old Lynard Skynyrd song..

Tuesdays Gone.

Wind chimes and tree rustles
allow me to feel her laughter,
my eyes switch on and off;

tears to sparkle
tears to blank stare.

Because I got to keep going.

I do what I can but it just
seems to me that my head
Is spinning and the wheels
keep turning,

round and round.

I tap my end table
with a twitchy index finger
so the husband knows
I'm still in the same room as he.

I'm lost in this song, those memories
and the fact that my baby girl is a slave to the streets.

I'll make coffee, go to work and resume with my day;

tomorrow.

Tonight I'll stay lost
and hope to God she finds
her precious soul once
again.
