Where hope lives

Take a trip inside my mind
Marvel at its savvy
Feast upon the wonders there
It's as complex I'm sure as any

Can you see the twists and turns
The black bits and the white
Don't be alarmed at the colours too
They don't always glare so bright

But go carefully with that bit there
That's where my hope resides
The things that I wish for myself
It's fragile, it's there, but it hides

It's difficult to spot I know
Because I shroud it with 'must do's'
I squash it to the bottom of the list
Is it just me that does that? Do you?

I know that I should prioritise
I know I matter too
But everyone needs bits of me
And to them, I'm the glue

So I store it back there in my mind
Tethered by obligatory rope
Even though everything else comes first
I'll never give up my hope.
