Acorns, Midnight and Other Muses

by Maple Tree   Sep 5, 2017

Needles prick softly along my spine
just before Autumn, pine cones whisper.

I've nestled within sorrow for so long
that I've forgotten the taste of nature.

To walk along paths of foot traveled earth,
reminds me that I'm not alone.

September winds dry tear stained cheeks,
as the moon critiques the sun's first setting.

Sapplings remind me that fallen leaves
can be reborn, little acorns become hats
for fairy's and even in darkness there is light.

The whole poem is well written, but especially this stanza is unforgettable.

Good to see it is already nominated.

Andrea. This is so delicately raw that it sits on my heart and my mind. The pictures you paint with your words are truly wonderful but so very heartwrenching.
