Heartstrung

by Cantchangeme   Sep 6, 2017

Heartstrings, you used to play
Between bones that you'd separate
A doctor dissecting the broken hearted
Scalpel ready before it started

A sentiment buried in sediment
Your robot heart becoming sentient
Secrets, you secreted away
Painting all our colours a deeper grey

Guitar strings, you used to break
When I used to tremble used to shake
An artist painting the little death
Brush strokes removing what was left

A reason without reasoning
Seasons changing, night drawing in
Within Winter a landscape locked in frost
Between ice and snow scared and lost
