The water was clear

by Robert Long   Sep 15, 2017

The water is clear
But your wrists are stained red
Your face says happy
But your eyes say pain

You need help
But you don't want to ask
So you cut yourself
So the pain will pass

You cover it up
And try to move on
You hold it in
Until a piece of you is gone

You chip away at life
And you sit in the dark
You think you're all alone
And it's not really smart

You have people that care
And want to help you out
So ask them for help
Before your last words you shout

And don't lose sight of your light
For you might not make it home
But just keep in mind
You are never alone

Robert, this is a wonderful piece that shines like a beacon in the dark for anyone in this position. If we look hard enough, there's always help around the corner but we have to want to see it first.

    Take care,

    Ben
