DO PRAYING MANTIS REALLY PRAY?

DO PRAYING MANTIS REALLY PRAY?

Of course, we do silly goose, and when we get that poor soul in our claw we will never let them loose! I always pray that an unsuspecting fat bug stay put as I give him my special side eye look and the Bee is bewildered as I sway my body from side to side, he then continues to collect his beloved pollen and in a heartbeat, into my tummy he glides.

I have many coats to wear, green is keen, mousy brown is not my cup of tea but for hiding on a branch it makes me almost impossible to see. I have my beady eyes on a Lady Mantis but she seems to always ignore me, I guess it’s not yet that time of the year to call out to her; “Hey Dear”.

Did you know that with mating, a male Mantis has much to *fear, she may come on to you by proposing that when it came time to having kids you two could have a bunch but the dirty little secret is you may be her lunch?

Finally, the Fall did arrive and sure enough my male drive came alive, I didn’t have to chase her now, she stared at me like she wanted to eat me alive? We did part on good terms, she was ready to deposit our little bundle for our kind to survive. Stuck to a tiny branch this wafer like ball would survive the Winters cold and bring many more Mantis into the fold.

*It’s factual that Female Mantis will often eat the Male after mating, some gratitude!
As a boy, we would take those Mantis bundles we found in the Spring, put them in a glass jar and within days there would be hundreds of babies Mantis which we would then set free.

    Loved this dude,

Finally got to reading it after a mental day.

    And sorry I couldn't help myself !

    Well hello there lady mantis
    I think you're looking fine
I would like to take you out to dinner
But on me you shall not dine

    For I have another purpose
And once we have done our dance
I'm legging it off this bloody twig
    While zipping up my pants
