Dark Tower

by Paul Hirst   Sep 19, 2017

I slumber with Morpheus and he has his way with me
Or so it seems in these waking dark dreams

Yet my eyes are wide I walk in bright sunlight
Laugh with friends try to keep my moods light

But I am chained not free a prisoner of my own thoughts
My mind flayed betrayed wishing she had stayed
This dark weight crushes me which monkey rides my back
Obsession regression depression all three
Please just let me be

Each year month week day second every waking hour I stumble towards the light
Escape my dark tower

    I really enjoyed this poem.

I kinda like a little darkness every now and then.
