An Excerpt Of A Eulogy (For Mel)

by Mark   Sep 22, 2017

Recent months we have seen
A very different Grandma
Inseparable from science;
Keeping her alive,
Though I doubt she really was.

For the woman we all knew,
Graced us with a loving gaze
Open arms and a open home;
That kept us all warm
Inside our hearts.

I mourn even more
As my teary eyes glanced at photos
Of her so young and smile so wide
In love and free
From the darker days ahead.

One great moment of my life
Was to see my child
Look up to her matriarchal eyes
To know another generation
Will bare witness to her presence.

I just know at passing
She would soar to that celestial city
In a spiritual aura, radiating love;
With wings full of feathers
Each a heart she as touched.

Throughout ever blue skies
Of the abode of angels
Grandma would fly
As a young seraph
Away from the pain of life.

My deepest of feelings
Sense she is waiting for me
That I too may see
That heavenly archangel
And bask in her warmth again.
