Empty Vessel

by Risqué   Sep 26, 2017

I have not created this emptiness
Tidal waves of broken promises and second chances
Have made the smooth stones of my heart into jagged rocks
I tell myself that I can save you
From drowning in the depths of love's mistakes
But I am no lifeguard
And you are the one
Who taught me how to swim
I am heartbroken
As I watch you drown
When all you have to do is stand
The sirens that have stolen your heart
That have wrenched it away from me
Will help you float to the Island
Where it has taken root
Impaired and hidden by apathy
When you've arrived
perhaps you'll see
That all the carelessness you have sworn on my heart
Is really its remnants soaked in empathy

I have not created this emptiness
Tidal waves of broken promises and second chances
Have made the smooth stones of my heart into jagged rocks...

Every word is true, true, true.
