A prince not my own

by Erin Cruise   Sep 27, 2017

Your touch steadies me,
With the strength of your arms
You hold me together,
And this wild restless heart begins to still,
Your dark eyes pierce my soul
And I know you can see,
Where can I hide?
My defenses are laid to rest.
As the gentle sound of your voice beckons me closer
Like a moth to a flame,
Promising comfort and safety
The light in your soul calls to me
Like a siren on the sea,
Your loving words shower me
In a fragrant spring rain,
Making me feel clean, and whole
As I’ve never felt before.
Oh to be loved by you!
A Prince, though not my own.
My heart aches with the knowledge
It can never be,
To another your heart clings.
My wandering soul shall ever be.

Erin, you've described the process of falling for someone so beautifully but now I'm sad that it's unrequited. Fantastic! x

Nicely written, the story flows beautifully of a love that is perfect for you but alas can never be. Well done -
