Once in a while I drive past the little dead end street where I lived until I was about 16.

I take a drive up occasionally. It seems tiny now. So many memories so many friends I've not seen for decades. Some I know I never will!

My old house was not a happy home but it was still home. In my room, door locked, pencils and pens scattered around me.

My place my sanctuary, and a little creativity.

Isn't it incredible how a structure like a house can remind us of our past and the people in that past. It's like taking a picture and capturing a memory. The faces, sounds and smells all come back as you walk around that house. Memories become mingled so much so that if you could wring the brickwork out you'd reveal those loved ones and events that meant so much.

Things, moments, keepsakes, pictures bring back memories
of many a people or just a loved one. But a house, yes that is where
memories were made, moments were sketched and lessons learnt
and to top it up, its where love resides. This poem portrays
just that and the sadness of this write can be felt from
start to end…a lovely heart touching write.
