The Test of Time

by Matt Carroll   Oct 7, 2017

There was a time, when you and I, were as close as close could be
No distance in between us, no end in sight that I could see
Little did I know, it'd turn out too good to be true
I never thought you'd pull away, that I'd hurt so much for loving you

As the minutes turn to hours, and the hours turn to days
I wish I could wind back the clock and find some sort of ways
To prove that I could be all that you need me to and more
To bring my heart back to the place we were where it did shine and soar

Although it seems you've moved beyond the time that we did share
I feel for you no less than I did then, beyond compare
I am still here, for you, my dear, if you must, call me a fool for waiting
But my love withstands the tests of time...even as my heart is breaking

Love does things like this to us.
Though we hurt yet we don't stop going back to same places again, hurting us again and again.
I just hope she loves you back and start admiring your love

Poignant, gentle and sad but well written and I loved the last two lines especially :-)

This feels familiar I wonder have you written something similar previously or a rewrite? It doesn't detract in the least from the beauty and emotion of it. It is filled with deep feelings of emotion and romantic thought and is much softer than what I remember of the previous write. Milly x

This was very well written. Emotionally drawn to this peice as its relatable to many. Its obvious you love this person and shows you are the calm in the storm.. Great write. Keep it up. (:
