Bitter Taste

by Kitty Cat Lady   Oct 7, 2017

The eggs have gone off
And the milk is sour
The butter is rancid
There's weevils in the flour

Throw in a pinch of resentment
Just a sprinkle of doubt
A dash of anger for flavour
Beat it in whilst you pout

Throw in a cup of whiskey
Add a spoonful of regret
Keep on with that stirring
Are we having fun yet?

Without the right ingredients
You'll know there's a mistake
Bitter and foul tasting
Without love you can't bake.

Kitty, so very true...there is no good taste coming from anything that doesn't have love there. You really did a wonderful job with this write. I can just feel the angst and bitterness of a lost love-cleverly wrapped in this poem-well done-
