Victim of a Gun

by IdTakeABulletForYou   Oct 8, 2017

Who could know that deep inside
monsters, within you, reside.
If provoked, those monster will
indiscriminately kill.

I see you but never more,
as you leave, closing the door.
You've left darkness in your wake
through the lives I've seen you take.

You don't know what demons lurk
in heads of those with whom you work.
Their words can mask, their heart can hide.
The dark in them can seem so light.

A foolish game that fools will play,
and in the end we all will pay.
A guessing game, who will be next?
Without solutions, we are vexed.

Dreaming of a better world;
I woke up and my dream unfurled.
I realized what I had become:
another victim of a gun.

Hello Stephen. First of all, I'm happy to read a new post from you. I feel the sad reality in this poem. You have a great way with rhyme and this flowed out really well. I really love the last stanza, it has a certain weight that made me really sad thinking this is what's happening now. Great write as always.
