Starry Night

by Danial Zainal   Oct 8, 2017

*Note: I wrote this based on the tragic death of my neighbour's wife. Hope you like it.

Gazing at the night sky is where i stand,
In solitude, as it has become my greatest friend,
Alas, i'm wrapped in thoughts of these emotions,
As no soul could comprehend what maims me,
Is simply this abyss seclusion.

Gazing at this starry sky is where i stand,
Recalling my thoughts in hopes to comprehend,
Unravelling the mysteries of our world,
And what taints or purifies our very soul.

Doubtless, Love has the force to puzzle one's mind,
Slowly creeping and affecting our hearts without a sign,
Leaving us in utmost joy,
Or the coldness of Melancholy's foy,
Neither can live without the other,
As its what makes the world as we see,
Hence awaken thyself from thy slumber,
Alas like the stars and be free.

Awww, this is beautiful. There is sadness all through-out, I love the language/sentence structure which definitely made this a gripping piece.
