Silenced by their Darkness

by Rob   Oct 9, 2017

†††
She was broken and no one could fix her,
Shadowed gossip led her to demise,
No one inside those halls really knew her,
Nor the thousands of tears she had cried...

To most of them her name didn't matter,
And not one had even bothered to ask,
She was the girl who sat alone in the corner,
Her mascara matched her clothes of laced black...

Her vociferous music played in her headphones,
The tunes and the lyrics would scare you to death,
And all that the others seemed to talk about,
Was the Gothic cross hung on a chain from her neck...

Inside she was tattered, lost and so lonely,
Her family no longer seemed to exist,
She knew in her mind if she left them,
It is not like she would ever be missed...

She examined the realms of a toxic mind,
But in her darkness resolve hard to see,
The tears start to fall as her thoughts she reviews,
Which brings this girl again straight to her knees..,

Her smile remains dormant on her soft pale face,
Her tears fall causing her mascara to run,
And no one could see her true beauty inside,
But to her life had come all undone...

The next morning the gates to the school opened,
The others wouldn't know how to cope,
Even though it was them who had caused this,
In the hallway she hung herself, tied from a rope...

And her pain was over...

A tragic tale no doubt played out more than we realise. Although the content is heartbreaking, it's really well written and structured Rob and your brilliant descriptions painted a clear image in my mind. Great write! :-)
