when where & how

How do you compete for someone's heart?
When it belongs to someone else
How do you just let go of everything
inside that you've ever felt
How do you smile without crying?
So no one witnesses your tears
How do you finally let go
When you"ve been together for some years?
How do you give up what you had
Only to dwell on memories of your past
How do you forgive someone and put them first
When they're constantly putting you last
How do you fight for your love?
Only to prove its resistances
What do you do when your heart is troubled?
And you cant help but miss him
When exactly does the feeling go away?
When do you stop caring?
I find myself looking at old pictures of us
Analyzing them and comparing
I find myself reading old text messages
Smiling as is read each line
Wishing i still was with you
Wishing i could turn back time
Wishing i had another chance
That chance to win back your heart
But i understand that will never happen
I have to accept the fact its best for us to be apart.

This is hitting me today Brit. I finally have an end date in sight and it’s bittersweet.

I’m so happy to hear that but I pray you get the strength to move forward and heal and be happy you deserve it

Offense is test of endurance. Forgiveness is freedom purchased. When the sun sets, the moon rises. There's always a place called Forward. Within every scar, healing dwells. With focused sensitivity; it can only just get better. Cheer up!

I really loved this poem and it resonated within.

If you have to compete for someones heart you have to ask yourself "are they worth the fight".

Things do get easier but you never forget! Time passes and you don't dwell on them so much. You never forget. Little insignificant things act as triggers and snap you right back into memories.

As for forgiving someone who has constantly put you last on their list of priorities? Not sure if they deserve forgiveness, but then some people are bigger than I.

I have a little phrase "you cannot forgive someone if they don't know what they've done".

I hope you find peace and tranquility

aw **sniffs** ... we've all experienced this awful feeling I bet, and you've depicted that gut-wrenching feeling so well! Good job Brittany :-)

This poem is full of questions that I certainly don't have the answer to.

Well done and all the best,

    Ben
