Epitaph For The Living

by CJ Maleney   Oct 15, 2017

Bring me forth the fire,
Then watch me wash it all away.
Submerge me in ice flow waters,
See them all evaporate.

Bury me in snow and ice,
Watch it melt around my form.
Let the particles of the desert cover me,
Then I become sand storm.

Sink me deep beneath the earth
If you think that's where I belong.
I will became part of land and soil,
My legacy carries on.

Fill me full of embalming fluid!
That is toxic to those that live!
Preserve my form as it withers?
This is not a choice I give!

Burn my bones and carcase,
Crush, then tip them in the sea
One way or another,
I will float eternally.

I am not a god or angel,
I emit no ethereal flame or light.
Just one being amongst you all.
To be remembered on lonely nights.

Do not erect a head stone,
To stand before and cry.
I have become at one with nature now
There is no need to say goodbye

Exactly this! Brilliant. We live on in the hearts and minds of loved ones when we die ... I don't want to became some dull headstone! :-) x

This is a lovely epitaph Craig. I too want to be cremated, no embalming and put into the ground. I always say; "That ashes to ashes, well, I just want to hurry that process up". I don't believe you will be easily forgotten if at all forgotten-you strike me as a person anyone who has ever met you will never forget. Well done-
