Nothing Changed

by Robert Long   Oct 17, 2017

everyone knew
that happy little boy
that would come to school
so filled with joy

he would laugh and joke
and have some fun
and with his friends
he would always run

but all that seemed to end
when a bully found his way
into his heart
and lead him astray

and now that boy
is 18 years old
and hes still the same
because his emotions he holds

and y'all already know
much about depression
so I'm not dragging this out
just to get a reaction

and to all those with depression
i want you to know
i know how you feel
deep in my soul

and if you need to talk
all you have to do is ask
and ill help you
stop wearing that depression mask

An interesting piece. For me I felt the positivity in the first three stanzas was a good introduction. The next two take the reader to the realisation that even though the boy is a lot older he still can't shake how the bullying felt and so is now depressed.

The final two stanzas reach out to the reader with a message of friendship and support. The offer of positive help and someone to talk to.

It is very sad that people in today's world more than ever often feel depressed and isolated at some point in their lives. Sometimes all that you can do is offer that hand of friendship and sometimes a smile or kind gesture can change a person's life.

that is so true. It just takes the little things to make a day. It takes bigger scales to keep it like that and thats the point people dont understand. Thank you for the feedback milly and i hope you have a great rest of your life.
