Walls

by Rey Severs   Oct 18, 2017

These walls are big, these walls are strong,
These walls have kept people out for far too long,
You can't climb them, or cheat your way through,
If you are to decieve me, these walls, they knew.

Inside is where the warmth lies, and outside is ice,
It'll freeze you out, you'll never get inside,
For inside is heated, tender and warm,
You will never get past my defensive ice storm.

A smile, being held,a touch of kindness,
You could lead me to the dark, led by blindness,
But these walls will push, and do they shove?
These walls are here..to never feel love.

For inside is weak, a trembling heart,
One small hit and it'll fall apart,
Surpass these walls, but don't you dare ever kill,
There's a lot of love there..and I'm afraid...it might spill

Loved this rhyming quirky rhythm. A very good portrayal of someone afraid to love whose put up a wall to protect their heart but in the final reveal shows a fragile heart full of love. Milly x
