Yakari, this says a lot and a lot of women can relate with this. I do not wear make up...not even lipstick unless really needed for an occasion. I am happy with it but sometimes the pressure around can make me feel really inferior. I wish things were simple and natural...not only physical beauty but internal beauty of the heart as well. Great write.

Well done. When you stop caring about what people think and don't conform to societies expectations you find life changes for the better. You become more comfortable in your own skin and open the door to endless fun.
Most women don't realise this until they are a lot older. Most men fall for women just the way they naturally are.

(There's nothing worse for a man than having a woman leave thick gunk or lipstick on their shirts or When running fingers through hair to find out it's extensions, fake eyelashes or nails etc. None of those things are attractive and they scream fake. The alternative plastic surgery eventually turns women into plastic alien monstrosities. So a woman who keeps make up to a minimum and concentrates on being true to herself is the real beauty.

Hallelujah to that Yakari!

It's so easy to say that the media is to blame (and I'm not saying it's not) but all throughout history, women in particular have aspired to follow the latest trends, and done ridiculous things to themselves to achieve the latest version of 'beauty'.

I am fascinated to see what these augmented women (and men too) will look like in their old age given the chemicals and poisons they've pumped themselves full of in their quest to conform. My guess is, it won't be pretty!

Hello, Yakari.

Yes, in a time when we are told that women have more power and freedom of expression than ever, it is often confusing to see how often society pushes certain particulars on them but equally, how many women choose to succumb. Men behave badly, women behave badly and this superficial culture is what the youth of today is left with. Of course, they say it is the minority that ruins it for everyone and I tend to agree. I know plenty of men who treat women with the upmost respect and plenty of women who feel exactly like you...my wife included.
