Enhanced Perception

by CJ Maleney   Oct 31, 2017

So I've had to buy some spectacles
For I've been struggling with how I see
The lines have become a little blurred
And difficult to read

I can pick out things on the horizon
But I can't read an open book
Everything twists and merges
No matter how hard and long I look

On a mountain that is miles away
I can make out a single tree
I can see way off into the distance

But not what is right in front of me

I have the opposite problem since I am near sighted...only things near are clear to me. An inborn eye condition, I wear glasses with same grade for both eyes. Sight problems can be a real stress. Apart from physical sight, this poem seemed to touch something deeper, especially the last stanza. Good write.

A wonderful write fella, and light-hearted piece about spectacles, and your need.
    Nice one

Oh Craig, coming from someone who has been wearing glasses for years and bifocals for probably 10 plus years now, ones diminishing sight sucks. It seems guys don't get that issue until around your present age. This aging thing, not so sure.. lol

    Cheers Ben,

My close up eye sight is deteriorating. Mine you it's taken 45 years. All that time without glasses ain't to bad I guess.

    Getting older rocks! Not lol

Love this, Craig. I am experiencing the same thing at the moment. My long sight is incredible, even if I do say so myself, but the pages of my books are becoming more and more obscure! One of life's cruel and ironic tricks, I dare say...another one. \nominated
