Hello my poetry

by Dagmar Wilson   Oct 31, 2017

When you and I first met they had me on bed rest covered with nothing but a single white sheet,
I remember the room being cold with nothing to watch.
I felt so alone.

Tears were running down my face
one by one hitting the pillow case,
the salty taste in my mouth made me dream of water.
That's when you came along.

You were sitting at the end of the bed
and you have been my shadow ever since then.
We've cried together, laughed together
shared good times, bad times,
holding hands while sitting in a dark hole.
You never judge me.

I want to thank you for being so patient
at times I pay you no mind.

I woke up this morning
with a big weight on my shoulder,
you are my pain reliever.
Hello my poetry.

Dagmar, writing is probably been one of the biggest life savers we have. It doesn't judge us and once its poured out onto a page there's this huge relief. Well done and hugs my friend-

I do feel this poem ended abruptly, I would have liked for there to be more, particularly between the lines "with a big weight on my shoulder" and "you are my pain reliever." Perhaps even alluding to this being the poem you wrote that relieved your pain, which would have made it ironic.

I still think it's a great piece, and a wonderful personification of poetry.

    Great job Dagmar,
