Yerwa

by Yakori bint Muhammed   Nov 1, 2017

28th October, 2017.

Yerwa,
streaming grain of
dust
and blood-tales and
deprivations
amidst the deserts thirst
like drought of Somalia

NB:
Yerwa is a local word used by my states people in referring to my states capital, Maiduguri in Borno State, Nigeria.
This poem was an exercise in an introductory edition of a poetry workshop to write a poem similar to J.P Clark's poem, Ibadan.
Below is a link to the poem.

How interesting, Yakori. Great little footnote there. Not a word wasted in this wonderful piece from you.

    All the best as ever,

    Ben
