Baby bird (for Robyn)

by Brenda   Nov 8, 2017

I haven't really flown
in so long-
You know, that pure flight...
Flying high
the trade winds keeping me
on course-
All well with myself and this life.
-
Alas my wings have been
badly scarred-
Years on the streets
have left them broken and torn.
But I will soar again-
For inside this body
beats a strong heart-
A heart of a warrior...
-
They say it takes
a village
to raise a child-
I know I'm not alone
in this fight.
My family, my friends,
total strangers
sending prayers-
sending strength-
sending so much love...
For me-
A person even I had given up on...
They all believe,
just as I do,
that I will fly again...

Brenda, It's so good to see that this isn't some random site, it's in actual a community or a small village just as you mentioned. Enriched with beautiful souls, totally strange people who really care for each other. They have love & respect not just for their fellow poets but their families too.
Hugs to Andrea, her daughter, and her whole family for maintaining their strength while going through hard times.
Hugs to our fellow poets for sending their prayers to that bird which lives inside Andrea's heart because she is the only reason of what true happiness means to Andrea.
Hugs to those who wrote, and keep on writing such wonderful tributes to Andrea and her bird in their beautiful language - just as you did, Brenda.
The most beautiful part of this poem is the theme itself - Robyn.
Brenda, I read tribute of other poets too.
Everyone wrote the prayers from their heart, and sent it to Andrea. Like, I wrote from a mother's heart.
On the other hand, you wrote about Robyn's dreams and desires.
Brenda, you showed us how Robyn feels, what Robyn sees.
Through this poem you have told us about her strength that besides all those sufferings
(The chemotherapy sessions, and all the others which I don't want to mention because her mother is going to read it too)
Robyn has been through she hasn't given up.
Though she has not taken her flight for a while yet in her heart she knows that soon she will rise high into the air, and her life will be on its right course once again.
In this fight, she isn't alone anymore. All of us are with her, holding her hand.
Though her wings are badly scarred, yet her heart is beautiful - full of hope.
She still wears the same strength.
Because she is the daughter of a warrior and she possesses the same heart just like her mother.
    Brenda, an optimistic write!
And hugs to Andrea from all of us.

Naazz, thank you ever so much. As a parent you just want your child to be happy. You want no harm to befall them. My heart is shredded over what's happening.
