Blue Eyes

by Matt Carroll   Nov 8, 2017

I see deep within those clear blue eyes
The power, grace, and fury of the ocean
The kind in which you lose all sense of self
And sparks such raw, untamed emotion

For so many years I've kept restrained
How those blue eyes of yours entrance me so
For each time that mine do meet their gaze
It takes all the strength I have to let it go

Drawn to them, to you, it can't be helped
I couldn't forego this feeling even if I tried
For when those blue eyes light up the room
It's like wide open heaven's gates have been pryed

The skies and seas, both held in envy
For they had to know from the very start
There was no hope they'd ever compare
To those clear blue eyes that stole my heart

*I love going through old boxes and folders, finding things I'd written from the past. :)

Ahh, such beautiful captivating blue eyes they must be, to evoke such feelings within you. A beautiful, melting piece. I would only like to suggest wide open to come before gates in the last line of the second to the last stanza:
'It's like heaven's wide open gates had been pryed'

I loved the piece and nominated. :-)

      Thank you :)
I've edited the line, struggled with that one a bit.
