Poison

by Guilty By Design   Nov 10, 2017

How stupid did you think I could be?
I trust you, more than you ever did.
I didn’t want a day less than forever.
If only I knew the skeletons you hid.

I must admit, I’ll take some fault.
It wasn’t only you, not always.
We gambled more than we could lose,
Lost our way somewhere within the craze.

In the heat of the moment, nothing mattered.
Oh, how naïve could we possibly be?
To think the world wouldn’t burn under our feet.
Invincible? Like the fruit of a poisonous tree.

Lovely to see a fellow rhyming poet posting such great work. This is written really well and flows wonderfully.

    All the very best,
