Stroop!

by Kitty Cat Lady   Nov 13, 2017

I can't write in colour here
But you'll know what I mean
When I write the word 'blue'
But the font is in green

The name of the game:
Say the font colour, not word
For some people it's easy
But for others absurd

This is the 'Stroop Test'
A psychologist from the past
To test if our reflexes
Are quite slow or fast

It's harder than you think
Stroop was a clever fellow
Just try saying 'purple'
When the written word is yellow!

The point of this is
We're easily confused
We process words faster
Than we do hue

I know it's only trivia
But it fascinates me
So I'm sharing it here
For you all to see.

If you want to try it for yourself ... http://www.onlinestrooptest.com/stroop_effect_test.php

this is definitely intriguing and I read somewhere to that if you write the beginning and end letter the same it wouldn't matter as the brain only processes that information.. absurd but cool :)

After reading this it makes sense looking at purple trying to say yellow. What a clever little piece and full of knowledge :)
