Christmas in the Philippines

by mossgirl19   Nov 16, 2017

The lights are heading downtown
where Santa sits in a red chair, smiling.

The town hall resembled a palace in a sea of twinkling glitters,
a giant sparkling tree stands proudly at the public park as
the smell of Bibingka fills the nostrils.

A little boy nags his mama for some dirty ice cream, she shakes her head but gives him some change. A little girl munches on her cotton candy, and her little tongue turned pink.

Lovers walk hand in hand, friends drag each other from one bazaar to another, giggling.

Lolo and Lola watching grand kids ride the Caterpillar, catching their breaths as they ride the Ferris Wheel.

The church bell rings, a chorus echoes thru the walls, merry voices sing The Old Lang Syne.

And then Feliz Navidad, Feliz Natividad went the choir,
With a bang, colorful explosions graced the sky and I...

I put out a smile and thought
"Nothing like Christmas in the Philippines."
