Stretch Marks

by Hidden Eyes   Nov 16, 2017

Marks line my body like the telephone poles
That line an otherwise empty expanse in Arizona
They're everywhere;
Breast hip thigh

They remind me of my shame,
Of my guilt
It's the same feeling as it would be
If you killed a mockingbird despite
Hearing Atticus Finch tell you it's a sin

It crushes me,
The shame and guilt
So
I try to breath
Tryto bleed
But the marks still remain
Encasing my body like a cover of a book

Bodies tell stories. Unblemished ones are very, very rare.

"Encasing my body like a cover of a book"

Exactly this! Just as you love someone with all of their body stories, yours are just as lovable ... feel no shame and find the beauty in your stories of survival that your body expresses. :-) x

I really like your uniqueness in writing. You have a way with bringing different words into cohesion, it's amazing. I absolutely loved the first stanza! Wonderful work.

This is raw, I thank you for sharing . As you get older you learn to accept your bodies bumps, lumps, and lines...its all part of you and a life lived. Hugs-
