The Cross

by AngelaLuisaCory   Nov 19, 2017

So beautiful the cross I bear
Within my heart, within my head
Here by my side and by my bed
Lone witness to the tears I shed.
And here I stand before you now
As through the cloth-black waves I plough
And there you lie, I am undone
Before you in the mourning sun.
So old the cross within my care
It lies upon the very place
Of lily-pink and wood and air
Upon your loving, caring face.
The music burns our very eyes
As hand in hand with incense sighs.
We stand together, arms enfold
To recite the childhood prayer you told.
