My Human and I

by Mortal Utopia   Nov 20, 2017

When I’m not chasing my own tail
round and round,
I always seem to be chasing shadows –
for those shy, gentle reflections
are all I see of you and your world.

So, I guess,
I don’t really know you, after all.

We never even see the same colours.

But when I see you
with your hopeful smile and trembling hands,
like starlight so weak but beautiful,
I would always wag my tail in pride.

I would sit on your lap the first chance I get
and look at our shadows overlapping and becoming one.

I like how your dog thinks. :-) Kidding aside, this piece has created a loving picture of the human and the dog and I have no doubt they understand each other very well. Wonderful job.
