Thank and blame Bowie for all of this

by Alice   Nov 20, 2017

For weeks or months-
(its all the same)
I’ve fled to seek your sounds in vain.
I hoped they’d mix my remedy,
as music is just therapy.
You painted colours in my bones
like sun soaked crystals
guide rainbows home.
You lifted rhyme in to my grasp,
and strummed the string of Blighty’s past,
yet still I tremble,
crave the elixir I seek,
and all my will is sunken deep.

My brother is an insane Bowie fan, but when I showed this to him he shared the sentiment of the previous commennt, that it could be applied to almost any band, and he appreciated that he could pick out specific references but that others could still enjoy the piece. Just thought I'd share a non poet's perspective!

I'm not a huge Bowie fan Alice (shock!) but this could apply to any artist I feel as music really is therapy and love how you've expressed this! :-) x
