The Nightly Empty Oath

by Alice   Nov 20, 2017

Here we are again.
Steeped in the night’s cool and lucid
‘NEVERMORE’.
The evening was creased-
my ambitions squandered
in a fizzing chemical heat.
And in some shrunken hours
when that scornful sun does creep
I’ll vow to make the day
a clear one
but hopelessly,
I’ll chalk it black again.
