Every Poem is Precious

by mossgirl19   Nov 27, 2017

Every poem is precious
because every poem is a delicate flower
nursed in my bosom;
stemmed in my veins,
deeply rooted in the core of my heart,
thriving, surviving,
on the very nutrition
that keeps me alive.

Every poem is precious
because every poem is my heartbeat
made tangible,
my strength, my weakness,
my inconsistency, vanity
and sanity all in one,
thriving, surviving,
on the very air I breathe in and out.

Every poem is precious
because every poem
is every reason
to greet the morning sun
or welcome the evening moon-
to thrive and survive
through another day.

Every poem is precious
because every poem...is me.
