Trapped alone inside my head
Thinking of things I should have said

Things that were not meant to be
Specifically, in this case, you and me

Gone are my thoughts of better time
Here to stay, I cannot cry

About my past steeped in shame
Of days gone past when you've said my name

Your response to "I love you"
Was once a laughing "I love you too"

I've said my peace and you have too
And all I can think is "I miss you"

Nothing comes of bringing up the past
Except realizing it would never last

So I take my leave and wish you best
Its over now and I can rest

    Wow what an inciteful well rhymed piece. So often people are quick to fall in love but then stay far too long after they know it won't work. Cutting your losses in the short term can be painful but it saves much pain and waste of life in the long run. Has to be nominated. Milly x
