By Storm

by Matt Carroll   Dec 21, 2017

Naught is promised, our time here, we borrow
Yesterday's gone, though we can hope for tomorrow
Live for today, in the moment, for it's all that is certain
And at the drop of a hat, fate could draw closed the curtains

Live by your words, yet louder let your actions speak
Love fiercely, with a passion that makes your knees grow weak
Forgive, but don't forget, and heed the caution of mistakes
Know when to throttle out, and when it's best to pump the brakes

Stand by your convictions, and yet keep an open mind
For in the thoughts of others, often wisdom's there to find
Speak softly on the ears of those in need of tender care
Sound out against the ones who seek to leave you cold and bare

Heed the feeling in your gut, follow the calling of your heart
In search of something beautiful, there's no better place to start
You never know what lies ahead, or if you'll find another chance
So by surprise, by storm, take what you love...don't let them pass with just a glance

    Matt,

as a believer in fate, this had me hooked all the way through. I like the way you have expressed how things could turn out, in a great flowing format.
Well done and I will nominate this.

Oh Matt this is brilliant! Wise, wise words indeed. Have you ever read 'Desiderata'? It's along the same profound lines as this.
Adding to my faves! :-) x
