Love Eternal

They say that love lasts for a moment
then naturally fades away
so why am I blessed with this miracle
which grows stronger every day

I look at you, once tall and strong
now a wrinkled, grey haired beau
my heart skips a beat once more
with the love I feel for you

The years flew by so quickly
I don't know where they went
you held my hand, through it all
to me you were from heaven sent

A love like this lasts forever
even though death may us part
wait for me my love, when I go
in heaven, we can make a start

We will have eternity to share
our hopes and dreams come true
forever together sharing love
our afterlife me and you.

    True love is not always easy to find. For a fee lucky couples, they stumble into a blissful and happy ever after. But most, like me, hunt for that special someone. I'm glad you've found him. I'm glad you chose not to settle for 2nd best, for now you can feel safe in the arms of true love.

    How true Milly, the physical to me is the outer part of the fruit that wanes with time but the Inner Seed carries the Love and Dreams to live on with the "New Life" to come where you and your true Love's Spirit will be as one. I'm envious that I didn't pen it, glad It's Nominated and in my Favorites!

    Milly, It's good to see that you not only found it, but got this privilege to share this life with him. And the best part is you want to be with him forever. So, the two of you share with each other all of your dreams and hopes along with love and pain for eternity.

    I don't think anything which is true ever fades away whether it's love or any other emotion and I am sure the beauty of this poem too. The second stanza written by you is the proof of it. It also says that true love is like a scotch, as it ages it grows stronger.

    Finding true love is not easy and it is becoming more difficult to find that one person. I don't know will I ever be able to experience true love. So far, it was just in and out of relationship situations I have seen.

    So, to me, yeah, definitely it sounds like a blessing from above which not everyone is lucky enough to have.
    Once we get, we just want it to continue with this blessing in our after life too.

    Milly, the language of this poem is very beautiful, heavenly, and will last in our hearts for eternity.
    I am glad it is nominated because it's so good to see where it truly belongs.

      Thank You Black hole. I believe there is a true love for everyone. The secret is never give up believing that. I spent a lot of my adulthood alone because after some seriously bad judgements I decided Id rather be alone than be in a relationship that made me unhappy. I knew I wanted true love and was prepared to wait and finally he found me. He is my world and I can't imagine my life without him and what sort of after life would it be if he wasn't there. I can honestly say I have never met anyone before who is so kind, thoughtful,, gentle and selfless. He was handsome as a younger man with a wonderful smile and that smile still makes my heart beat and fill with love. I am very blessed.
