Fall

by Karin Erlacher   Jan 25, 2018

Summer ends with a bow.
The warm days turn cool.
Autumn takes the stage now
with hoodies and cardigans of wool.

A favorite too short season
with pumpkins, donuts, and cider.
The leaves change, committing treason;
A spectacle that makes eyes grow wider.

But the residents all know
and dread what follows:
the unforgiving cold snow
and the ripping wind that howls.

Enjoy it while you can, the spice and bonfires.
Soon it will end and return to mere desires.
