I've been reading this on and off for a few hours now and...wow, I really don't know what to say. There is so much sadness in your words and yet...I took something very positive from this line...

It gave me hope that, perhaps, there's something better waiting for us all.

Andrea, as sad as this is I feel hope and I feel calm. Hope that there is something out there on the other side and your baby bird will continue to sing and fly. Calmness is knowing she has found peace in her life, no more uncertainty. Hugs for both of you-
