Growing up in a small town |
by Mr. Darcy
Diversity - this is a huge topic. I remember when I changed my career from working in a male environment, to a caring role. I met diversity head on, although, I did not know it at the time. I worked for a company called Mencap. I was suddenly dropped into a world where everyone was 'not like. me' I was working with women, and now adults with a range of mental and physical disabilities. Now that was a real reality check for me. Did I enjoy that job? Damn right I did. Did it change and develop my views about how different we all are? Yes, it dd and more; it showed me how special we all are in our own unique way. The only barriers of prejudice are the ones we put up through ignorance. |

Michael, thank you so much for your comments. It is crazy how when we are put into a totally different environment that we begin to see a whole different world. Hopefully it changes our way of thinking, for some unfortunately it does not. |
