Thoughts and Prayers

You complain that the world is cruel.

You pray that the victims
are in a better place,
and that those that are suffering
are healed quickly.

You exclaim that justice must be met.

You condemn those
who cause misdeeds
against others.

You think that people
Should go out there
And make the changes that
You wish to see
In your community.

Yet you sit there,
wondering why
nothing has changed.

It is only then
that you realize
that all you do is talk.

It is only then
that you realize that
you have twice the amount of hands
as you have a mouth,
and that you must
do twice that which is said.

It is then that
you realize that
your "good vibes" and
your "thoughts and prayers"
are meaningless until they are
put into action.

It is then that
You realize that you are
Part of the people,
And that as a person,
It is your duty to
Take the first step
To a better future.
