Mothers Day

by Milly Hayward   Feb 19, 2018

The bond between child and mother
stronger than most any other
They may have many ups and downs
arguments and too many frowns

Other times they laugh together
daft things even like the weather
No matter what life brings your way
Mother is in your heart to stay

So on this special mothers day
make time for her without delay
For treasured moments are soon lost
hold on to them at any cost

Time is a gift richer than gold
once spent its cannot be re sold
Chocolates, flowers maybe a card
or even better hug her hard

When I first dabbled in creative writing, I wrote lovely sentimental words. These were bespoke cards with messages about them from me. My primary purpose was to find a card with blank space for my verse. Later I experimented and stuck my printed poem on top of any previous text.

That's how I started writing creatively.

I don't know if this one went into a card, but that doesn't matter. It's the words that matter, right?

Mothers are special, it's true. The bond has to be strong to cope with the ups and downs of life. I like the mention of time as how precious this is. There's no time like the present to tell that special someone that you love them. Those who wait too long may live with regrets once their mum has sadly passed.

I personally take time for my mum. We speak at least once a week and catch up. I like this time. It special as your words are on this poem.

    Take care, Milly. X

Well said Milly. As my own mom is getting up there in age and is dealing with various medical issues it brings reality smack in the face and I know I won't have her forever. I think of my own kids and thank God daily we are all in a good place. Well done with this-
