Mardi Gras

by Larry Chamberlin   Feb 20, 2018

Mardi Gras

The floats rumble
beads tumble
dancing strutters
make hearts flutter
bands play
crowds sway
more floats
screaming throats
“throw to me!”
grab the booty:
toys that glow
carnival dough.

Parade ends
your back bends
so many beads!
too much greed
carry it home
parade syndrome
tomorrow night
do it right
catch even more
til arms are sore.
