Perched on the edge of your world
My legs dangling over the side
Swinging them in time to your tune
Waiting for the other shoe to drop

I'll never be invited in
If I jump the ledge I'll be an unwelcome guest
The annoying drunk at the party
Who ruined the big speech with heckling

Existing on your periphery
Blurred and out of focus
Unintrusive and convenient
In anticipation of charitable scraps

Erm? ... no thanks!
