Deep in the heart of a fading Smile

by Maple Tree   Mar 7, 2018

She painted tinsel in the dark
as demons stripped her soul,
fingerprints adorn her spine
but transparent under the sun.

Coffee grounds float upon sleepy thoughts
edging her moods with a sarcastic tone,
her cigarette continues to burn
because smoke keeps her secrets hidden.

She balances upon cement curbs
because it helps her remember childhood,
however; she continues to see the cliff up ahead

she knows what awaits her below.

Upon the darkest night of an endless moon
she stares at the eyes looking back at her,
glassy expressions torment a broken mirror
her vanity fades as she bites her lower lip;

reminding herself, she's still alive. ...

    Andrea, I wish I could take away your pain. I wish I could lasso the sun and capture a beam or two to shine upon you. Sending you love and hugs-
